About Google Security Alert
Today Google has changed some security alert types and this affected apps generated by our platform as well. If you get this alert message;
Security alertYour app contains exposed Google Cloud Platform (GCP) API keys. Please see this Google Help Center article for details.Vulnerable locations:com.mobiroller.activities.VideoActivity->onCreatecom.mobiroller.activities.YouTubeFailureRecoveryActivity->onActivityResultcom.mobiroller.adapters.YoutubeAdapter$2->onClickcom.mobiroller.util.YoutubeUtil->getVideoListIdcom.mobiroller.util.YoutubeUtil->getVideoListWithDetails
please do not worry about this. This is just an information message which related to the usage of Google API key shared with other apps. There is no critical error and no critical information “exposed”.
Why do I have this warning message on my Google Play Console?
Our YouTube module consumes data from Google Play API, to do this we are using API Key which is generated by MobiRoller and all MobiRoller apps using this key by default. So, this is why Google states that your app contains an exposed key. But this key is only used by MobiRoller apps which makes it easy to use for our customers, otherwise, you need to generate your own API Key from Google Services.
What should I do to remove this warning?
Please note that this will not affect you and our technical team is working on this. This is just an information message by Google.
Why didn’t I receive any information message before this happened?
The security updates on the Google Play console are managed by Google, it is not clear when and how it will be covered by Google, especially for non-critical issues. For this reason, we do not have the chance to inform you before this happened.
We can assure that you will get updates about any critical issue and our technical team always working on the latest changes and requirements, so you will always have a highly secure and updated application version. All you need is generating a new version it’s released and does not forget to publish the newest version on Google Play as well.
