1. Registration

To start creating your app with MobiRoller, you first need to sign up. Click the “Try it For Free” button at mobiroller.com to create a new account.

On the screen that appears, click the Sign Up button.

Fill in the required information on the Sign Up screen and click Create Your Account.

Once your account is created, you will be redirected to the Login screen. Enter your credentials to log in.

Note: If you click the Sign up with Google button, you’ll be connected without creating a password. However, if you ever need a password later, you can click the Forgot Password button and create one using the password reset email sent to you.

Please make sure the email address you enter is valid. This email will be used both for logging into the system and for us to contact you. If you use a fake email address, you won’t be able to transfer your app to another account later on.

To create your first app, click the Create New App button on the screen that appears.

Enter your app name on the screen that appears. This name will be displayed on the phone screen as the title of your app. You can always change the app name later via the panel.

Once you’ve entered the app name, click the Next button to continue.

You can either choose one of the ready-made templates for your app design and click the Choose Template button, or click Continue Without a Template to proceed to the final step of app creation. In this case, you can select a template later.

The designs you see here do not impose any limitations. You can change all images, icons, and text within the templates. You will find detailed instructions on how to do this in the upcoming articles.

Click the okay button to begin your app creation journey.

Click on the app logo to access the panel where the app details are located.

You are now in the app panel where you will prepare your app. You will complete all the steps of app creation through this panel.

Additionally, by clicking on the Mobiroller logo in the left menu, you can return to the screen that shows all the apps you have created and switch to the panel of any app you wish.

We are currently at one of the two key steps you need to pay attention to while preparing your app. Your app content and design will be crucial factors for your users.

When you first log into the app, you’ll be directed to the Dashboard. From this screen, you can click on the Content tab in the left-hand menu to view the Active Modules. These modules are what you’ll use to build and customize your app.

 Adding Module

You will see multiple modules on the content screen. To add one to your app, simply click the Add to App button.

Fill in the required fields for the selected module, then hit Save to successfully add it to your application.

Each module designed for building your app content serves a different purpose. You should add modules based on the features and functions you want to include in your application.

For example;

Let’s add the About Us module to your application.

On the screen you see:

Title: Enter the name that will appear in your app for the About Us module.

Header: This is the main heading displayed at the top of the About Us page.

About: Use this field to write a short summary about your company, service, or yourself.

Description: Provide a detailed explanation or full content for the About Us section here.

Twitter: Add the URL of your Twitter profile or page here.

Facebook: Add the URL of your Facebook profile or page here.

LinkedIn: Add the URL of your LinkedIn profile or page here.

Google+: Add the URL of your Google+ profile or page here.

E-mail: Enter your email address here.

WebSite: Enter your website address here.

Background Color: You can customize the background color of your content from this section.

Top Image: You can upload the image you’d like to display in the About section here.

Once you’ve filled in the required fields, click the Save button at the top right to add the About module to your Android/iOS application.

As with the above, you need to fill in the required fields for each module, and then once you click the save button on the top left, it will be added to your application. This way, you can add as many modules as you want and enhance your application’s content.

Each module will serve a different purpose within the application. Therefore, you will be asked to fill in different fields for the content of each module. To explore our articles on how to use all modules, you can check the Modules category.

You can customize the design of your mobile app under three main sections:

1. App Name & Icon
2. Design
3. Module Design

1. App Name & Icon

You can change your mobile app’s name and icon anytime you want. The app name and icon on this screen are the ones that will appear on mobile devices.

To change your app’s name or icon, click the pencil icon located at the top of the left-hand menu.

On the screen that appears, set the App Name (maximum 30 characters) and upload the App Icon in 1024×1024 pixel dimensions, using PNG, JPG, or JPEG format. Once done, click the Save button at the bottom right.

To apply the changes you made on the app information screen, you must generate a new APK and install this newly generated APK.

2.Design

You can customize your mobile app’s design from the Design tab located on the left side of your panel.

a.App Name & Icon

In this section, just like in part 1 of the article, you can change your app’s name and icon. Both sections serve the same purpose. You can use either of them to update your app name and icon as you prefer. 

You can change your app’s name from the App Name section and click on Upload an image to select your app icon. When uploading an image, make sure it is in the required formats (PNG, JPG, or JPEG) and has dimensions of 1024×1024 pixels.

After making the necessary adjustments, click the Save button.

You can use the preview screen on the right side to see how the feature you’ve added will look in your app.

b.Splash Screen

In this section, you can change the splash screen that will be displayed when your app is launched.

Click on the Upload an image section to add your own image. When uploading, make sure your image meets the required format and size specifications.

After making the necessary adjustments, click the Save button.

Using the preview screen on the right side, you can see a preview of the feature you have added to your application.

c.Background Images

This section consists of two parts:

• c1.Default background image
• c2.List Item Background

c1.Default Background Image

In this section, you can change the background image of your app.

Click on Start Design to choose from ready-made images available in Mobiroller’s library. Or, you can click on Or Upload an Image to add your own custom background.

Please ensure that the image you upload complies with the specified format requirements.

Once you’ve completed the necessary adjustments, click the Save button.

You can preview the feature you’ve added using the preview screen on the right side.

c2.List Item Background

In this section, you can select a default background image for the bottom menu item.

Click on Start Design to choose from ready-made images available in Mobiroller’s library. Alternatively, click on Or Upload an Image to add your own custom background.

Make sure the image you upload complies with the specified format requirements.

Once you’ve completed the necessary adjustments, click the Save button.

You can preview the feature you’ve added using the preview screen on the right side.

Additionally, you can customize this background for each sub-menu individually by going to the Content section and editing the related Bottom Menu module.

d.Loading Animation

In this section, you can select one of the available loading animations designed for your app.

Once you’ve completed the necessary adjustments, click the Save button.

You can preview the feature you’ve added using the preview screen on the right side.

e.App Colors

This section consists of four parts:

• e1.Navigation Bar Color
• e2.Text Color
• e3.List Item Text Color
• e4.Loading Animation Color

In this section, you can configure the color settings for the relevant areas.

You can also preview the adjustments you’ve made using the preview screen on the right side.

e1.Navigation Bar Color

In this section, you can specify the color of the navigation bar located at the top of the screen.

Once you’ve made the necessary adjustments, click the Save button to apply the changes.

e2.Text Color

In this section, you can define the default text color for your application.

After making the necessary adjustments, click the Save button to apply the changes.

e3.List Item Text Color

In this section, you can set the text color for the bottom menu.

After completing the necessary adjustments, click the Save button to apply the changes.

e4.Loading Animation Color

In this section, you can set the color of the loading animation.

After completing the necessary adjustments, click the Save button to apply the changes.

f.Change Template

You can use the Change Template feature to modify the appearance of your mobile application.

On the screen that appears, you’ll see categories and template designs. You can either browse templates by selecting specific categories or scroll down to view all available templates.

Templates do not impose limitations. You can freely change the visuals and icon images displayed.

When you hover over the template you like, click the Choose Template button to activate it.

Once you click Choose Template, confirm your choice by clicking the Yes button on the screen that appears.

g.Menu Templates

In this section, you can customize the menu templates that will be applied to your application.

By clicking on the dropdown menu under Menu Templates, you can select the most suitable template type for your app from the following options:

• Classic Menu
• Extended Menu
• Sliding Menu
• List Menu
• Top Sliding Menu

Choose the one that best fits your app’s design and navigation needs.

You can review how the templates will look by using the preview screens below. This will help you make the best choice for your app based on its design and functionality.

To choose an image for your menu background, click on the Pick Image button under the Menu Background section on the left.

Once you click the Pick Image button, you can upload your own image by selecting it in the Custom Image section. Be sure the image format matches the specified requirements.

Alternatively, you can click on the Library section to select from the pre-made images provided by Mobiroller’s library.

Click the Pick Image button under the Menu Item Background section on the right to choose an image for the background of the menu items. This section allows you to adjust the background of the cells within the menu.

Once you click the Pick Image button, you can upload your own image by selecting it in the Custom Image section. Make sure the image format complies with the specified requirements.

Alternatively, you can click on the Library section to choose from the pre-made images available in Mobiroller’s library.

After making the necessary adjustments, click the Save button.

3.Module Design

This screen may vary across different modules. For detailed setup instructions for each module, please refer to the Modules page.

You can customize the app icon for each module. To do this, click the Pick Menu Image button located below the standard content section.

When the image selection screen opens, you can upload your own image by using the Custom Image field.
Make sure your image meets the required format specifications.

Alternatively, you can click on the Library section to choose from a collection of ready-to-use images prepared by Mobiroller.

Background Image: In this section, you can upload a background image specific to this module.
If you choose the default option, the image set under Design > Background Images > Default Background Image will be used.

Main Image: The image you upload here (300×150 pixels) will appear at the top of the content area within the module.

After making the necessary changes, be sure to click the Save button.

At each stage and with every change you make, you can use the preview feature to check for errors and evaluate the effectiveness of your design.

You can preview your app in two different ways:

1. Virtual Preview Device
2. Preview via APK Generation

1- Virtual Preview Device

With the virtual preview device on the right side of the Mobiroller Control Panel, you can view and test your app at any time.

Additionally, with the Preview tab in the left menu, you can preview your app on various virtual preview devices.

To start the preview, simply click the Tap to Play button.

However, you cannot preview the latest features and modules using the virtual preview device. For a more detailed preview, you will need to generate the APK.

2- Preview via APK Generation

The most comprehensive preview option is generating the APK. You can download the app to your Android device and install it to test your app.

When accessing the app via the APK, there will be no limitations. All features will be fully functional. If any feature is not working or is missing, an error was made during the app setup phase.

What Is an APK File?

An APK (Android Package File) is the installation file used for apps and games developed for Android devices. Apps are installed on your phone through this file. With APKs, you can install and use apps without needing the Google Play Store or other marketplaces.

How Do I Generate an APK File?

To generate the APK file, click on the Dashboard tab located in the left menu of your control panel.

In the Dashboard tab, you must complete the five steps listed under the Your App Status section on the left side in order to generate the APK.

To get started with the first step, you can check out our article titled Step 1: Sign-Up and Create Your First App

On the screen that appears, click the Build Android App button located on the right side.

On the screen that appears, click the Generate a New AAB/APK File button located on the left side.

You will see a screen where you can choose between an Android Application Package (APK) and an Android Application Bundle (AAB) file.

APK and AAB Files

1- If you want to test your app and install it on your phone, you should generate an APK file. The APK file can be installed on an Android phone, allowing you to test your app. An AAB file cannot be installed on the phone.
2- If you are uploading your app to Google Play Store for the first time, you must generate an AAB file. As of August 1, 2021, Google Play Store no longer accepts APK files for first-time uploads and requires an AAB file instead.

To generate a package in AAB format, you need to have the Standard plan or a higher version.

To upgrade your plan, you can use the Upgrade button located in the top menu.

The APK creation screen will appear. It will provide guidance throughout the APK generation process.To proceed, select either the APK or AAB file based on your needs, then click the Next button on the screen.

The next screen is where you define your APK package name. The APK Wizard automatically assigns a default package name.If you want to change it, you can enter your desired package name in the Package Name field. For more details about package names, you can refer to our article titled What Is a Package Name?

About App Permissions:

App permissions refer to location, storage, camera, and microphone permissions that may or may not need to be included in your APK file depending on your app’s content.

If you do not select the correct permissions for your app, it may be rejected by the Google Play Store. To make the right selection, please review the documentation provided [here ].

After setting your package name and selecting the necessary permissions, click the Generate App button to add your APK/AAB package to the production queue. The APK generation process typically takes around 30 minutes. Once it’s ready, a download link will be sent to your registered email address.

When you click on Android App under the Download tab in the left-hand menu, you’ll be taken to a screen where you can manage your APK files. If you’ve made changes to your app or need to update your APK version, you can click Generate New AAB/APK File to generate an updated APK or AAB file. You can then click Download APK File or Download AAB File to download the latest version to your computer. These buttons become active only after a file has been successfully generated. Below, you’ll also find a table displaying the version history and status of your generated APKs, including their creation dates and progress.

You can download your APK to your computer using the Download APK File button. Then, transfer it to your Android device via email, USB cable, wetransfer.com, or any other file transfer method. Alternatively, you can copy the Latest Produced APK/AAB Link and send it to your phone to download the APK/AAB directly from that link.

You can install the APK file on your Android phone by following the steps shown below and test it on your phone.

AAB files cannot be installed directly on your phone. They are intended for use when uploading your app to the Google Play Store.

After transferring your APK to the device, click on it.

This screen will come up. You can start the installation by pressing the Install button on this screen.

The installation screen will be displayed after pressing the Install button on your mobile application.

In this screen, your application is installed. You can open your application with the Open button. Your application also comes as an icon on your phone. You can start using it. 

After completing the APK generation and device installation, you can now proceed to Step 6: Send Push Notification to start sending notifications.

What is a Push Notification?

Push notifications are messages that you can send to users who have installed your mobile app.

When you send a push notification, your message will be delivered to your users as long as they have an internet connection, or when they activate their internet connection.

In addition, with the MobiRoller platform, you can direct your users to a specific screen within the app with the push notification you send, and show them the screen you want them to see at that moment. This allows you to deliver your activities, campaigns, last-minute news, or many other types of content directly to your users. Moreover, if your app supports multiple languages, you can send messages tailored to the language used by your users.

How to Send a Push Notification?

To send a push notification, click on the Push Notifications section in the left menu of your panel. In the opened section, click on the Add New Notification area.

Additionally, by clicking on the List section in this tab, you can access the details of the notifications you have previously sent.

When you click the Add New Notification button, if the message Number of devices that will receive push notification: 0 appears, it means your app is not installed on any device. Therefore, your notification will not reach any users. Once your app is installed on at least one device, the background of the message will turn green. As your app is installed on more devices, this number will increase. However, if it is uninstalled from a device, the number will not decrease.

Audience

Who Should Receive It: From this screen, you can choose to send your message to All Users, only Android users, only iOS users, or your registered Members.

By selecting the Members option, you can segment your audience and target specific user groups when sending notifications.

Notification

Title: This feature is currently supported only on Android.
You can enter a title for your push notification here.
Example: 30% Off!

Message: Write the message you want to send to your users in this field.
Example: “Enjoy 30% off all t-shirts, exclusively on our mobile app!”
If your app supports a second language, you must enter the text in both fields accordingly.

Image: This feature is currently supported only on Android and requires at least a Pro Package.  You can attach an image to your notification. The image must be provided as a link. You can use image hosting platforms (e.g.,imgbb.com) or copy the image URL directly from your website. Separate links can be added for each supported language if your app is multilingual.

Action

Open Application: If you select this option, your app’s home screen will open directly when users tap on the push notification.

Open Screen: If you select this option, a specific screen within your app (which you choose) will open directly when the user taps the notification.

Open URL: This feature is currently supported only on Android and requires at least a Pro Package. If selected, the specified web address will open in the browser when users tap the notification. You can also provide separate URLs for each supported language.

Schedule

From Send Date section, you can schedule when your push notification will be sent.

Now: You can instantly send your notification as soon as you write it.

Scheduled: You can schedule your notification for a future date and time. Scheduling is only allowed until your monthly or yearly subscription ends. You cannot select a date beyond your package expiry.

When setting the time for your notification, you can also choose the appropriate time zone to ensure your message reaches users at the right moment. (Example: Turkey is in the GMT+3 time zone.)

Once all the required fields are filled in, click the Save button to proceed.

This way, the push notification reaches your device. When you tap on it, the app opens directly. If a specific screen was set for redirection, you’ll be taken there instantly.

How Can I Publish My Mobile App on the Mobiroller Market?

To publish your Android app on the Mobiroller Market, go to the Publish section in the left-hand menu and click on the Mobiroller App Store area.

Publishing on Mobiroller Market is not available during the trial period. To publish your app, you need to upgrade your plan to Advanced.

If you have a Premium package, the following screen will appear. Follow the steps below to publish your app on the Mobiroller App Store.

On this screen, you need to fill in the required sections. The explanations for each field are as follows:

Category: You must select the most relevant category for your app to help users discover it more easily.

Content Rating: Specify which age groups or user segments your app is suitable for by selecting the appropriate content rating.

Keywords: Enter the keywords that best describe your mobile app, separated by commas (,). You can use up to 80 characters.

Recent Changes: If you’re updating your app, this is where you briefly explain what has changed in this version. You can use up to 500 characters.

Short Description: This is the first text users will see when they view your app details in the MobiRoller Market. Limited to 80 characters. Users can expand this text to view the full description.

Description: Explain what your app does and what features it offers. You can use up to 4000 characters.

Screenshots: The screenshots you upload will appear on your app’s details page in the MobiRoller Market. You must select at least 2 screenshots that showcase your app. Since the visual quality of your screenshots can significantly increase the number of downloads, we recommend choosing high-quality visuals. You can upload up to 5 screenshots. The screenshots must be 640×1136 pixels in size and in PNG, JPG, or JPEG format.

After making the necessary adjustments, click the Save button to apply the changes.

Once all the required information has been filled in, you need to read and accept the I have read and accept the terms of publishing app statement, then click the Upload To Market button.

On the screen that appears, if you have published your mobile application on Google Play Store or Apple App Store yourself, you can activate the Market Links button to add your market links.

After making the necessary adjustments, click the Save button.

Your publishing request has now been sent to the MobiRoller team. Publishing requests are reviewed in detail by the MobiRoller team and evaluated within 1 to 5 business days. Once your app is published, your market link will be sent to you via email. If it is not published, the reason will be communicated to you via email. You can make adjustments and submit a new publishing request.

From now on, when you click on the publishing screen, a different screen will appear.

Edit Market Information: With this option, you can update your app’s information on the MobiRoller Market.

Publish Your App On Markets: If your app is live on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, you can add the market links of your app in this section.

Share and Promote Your App: By clicking this button, you can share your app on your website. For more detailed information, you can check the Promotion article.

Note: To develop an iOS app, you need to have at least a Advanced Plan in Mobiroller. iOS apps cannot be created with the Standard and Free-Trial Plans.

Important: When preparing iOS and Android apps, you must have your own Developer Accounts to publish them on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. You cannot publish using the Mobiroller developer account.

After publishing your mobile app on the markets, you have successfully completed the app development stages.
